Teaching enables me to share with DNP and MSN students what I have learned over the years from the perspective of an active scholar, writer, researcher and active clinical practitioner. I am passionate about facilitating motivated students to achieve their career goals.

- Ph.D. in Adult Health – University of Texas at Austin, 1991
- MN in Clinical Nursing – University of South Carolina, 1977
- BSN – University of South Carolina, 1976
- Diploma – Christ Hospital School of Nursing, 1974
Career Highlights:
- Served as the Founding Dean of the College of Health Professions 2009-2015.
- Was the editor or co-editor for 8 textbooks from 1997-2007, including one book nominated by the American Journal of Nursing as a book of the year.
- Awarded NKU Regents Professor in 2007 for outstanding teaching, scholarly activity and service.
- Awarded lifetime achievement in nursing from Mount St. Joseph College in 2007
- Awarded a Bureau of Health Professions Grant for $210,000 2010-2014 for the revision of a Nurse Executive Leadership online program.

Why did you start teaching?
Nursing is such a phenomenal career choice with lots of options and opportunities. Teaching enables me to share with DNP and MSN students what I have learned over the years from the perspective of an active scholar, writer, researcher and active clinical practitioner. I am passionate about facilitating motivated students to achieve their career goals.
What advice would you give to those considering this online program?
This program has a long history of providing online coursework access for students. The students must be motivated to succeed; faculty and staff support them in the educational process by being available and serving as advocates for them.
