My objective is to combine my academic, corporate, and life experiences into the online classroom to educate students so they come away with a practical understanding of the material and how it can apply to their work and personal lives.
What qualities make someone particularly successful in business?
In the areas of management I teach, emotional intelligence is a key factor to success. The ability to be self-aware while being understanding, relatable, empathetic, and inspiring will contribute directly to your success.
What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in business face today?
Understanding culture is a challenge for many people today. If you interact with people from other places in the country, or the world, you must understand the complexities of culture. There are several aspects to culture that make us all unique. Whether we live across the street or across the world from someone, you can't escape people with a different cultural makeup.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
”Braving the Wilderness“ by Brené Brown.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.
In addition to teaching, I am also the Director of Digital Enterprise Consulting at Siemens Digital Industries Software. I have been married for 28 years and have two adult children.
