  • Which classes do you teach online?

MGT 605: Managing in Organizations, MBA 610: Comprehensive MBA Essentials Review, MKT 621: Consumer Behavior and Insights, MBA 620: Ideation to Innovation

  • Why did you start teaching?

I started teaching because I had so many wonderful professors who helped me and I wanted to do the same. They cared and so do I. A few professors I had made an impact on me personally and professionally by the little things they did to help me. This consisted of a few extra minutes of guidance, a phone call, email, extra explanation, or even just a few small words of encouragement. I want to help others in this same way. I want to ensure that students have all the tools necessary to achieve their goals and it's an honor that I'm a part of their journey.

  • What advice would you give to those considering an online business programs?

Life goes so quickly and getting a degree can seem so overwhelming that we often debate about it for years and years. Instead of debating, just start! You probably debated longer than it takes to complete the degree.

Education is something (actually, one of the only things) that no one can ever take away from you. Start the program. If you need a break - take a break. If you need to change programs - change programs. Anything you do is better than nothing at all, and everything you do will have an impact.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in business?

Being open to change is necessary for business success. If one thing is consistent in life and business, it's that everything does change and will continue to change. If you don't like change, think about it as evolution. We all need to continually evolve.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in business face today?

You have to be very detail oriented, but don't forget to see the big picture and keep moving forward. Always know the goal and keep moving toward it. Know the details and pay attention to them, but don't get stuck in the weeds. The view is better from the trees.

  • What do you want students in your courses to learn? What is the learning outcome or objective?

I want students to develop an application for learning. In all courses, I want them to walk away with a better understanding of the material, but most importantly, be able to make a connection and apply what they've learned to their professional role.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

"Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder" by Arianna Huffington. We often get caught up on chasing the next dream - and we should work hard and climb the ladder, but we need to enjoy the view along the way.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.

I'm pretty handy and much stronger than I look. I can demolish cabinets, tear up hardwood floors, etc. I have an art background, so I make it look beautiful when I'm finished installing everything new.
