I want them to be able to apply the learning to real-world situations and make all decisions based on what is best for their students.

Work hard and persevere!
What qualities make someone particularly successful in education?
You have to care about kids and serve the students (not the adults). You have to be creative, enthusiastic, reflective, and flexible.
Why did you start teaching?
I love students and I love books (I taught high school English). I wanted to have a positive impact on the world.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
