Career Highlights:

I have worked at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for the last 11 years. I specialize in pain management in children, but also work with children who have been adopted internationally, cope with chronic medical illness and suffer from anxiety.

  • What do you want students in your courses to learn? What is the learning outcome or objective?

    I would like for students to learn about the importance of psychology in human development and behavior. I want students to recognize all of the different facets of psychology.

  • Which classes do you teach online?

    I enjoy teaching students about the subject of psychology and hope to pique the interest of enough students for them to consider pursuing a career in psychology.

  • Why did you start teaching?

    I have enjoyed motivating students to learn. Igniting the spark to continuous learning has been my passion throughout my career. I started teaching in 1978 and teaching online in 2006. I have taught in the gamut of nursing programs: Ph.D., DNP, MSN, RN to BSN, BSN, Diploma and LPN.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online program?

    Be sure that you remain well-organized and develop a system to keep yourself motivated to stay on track.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the field in which you teach?

    Empathetic, thoughtful, good listener, problem-solver.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

    Limits of health insurance and lack of resources for children and families.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know about you.

    I was born and raised in the former Soviet Union. My family moved to the U.S. in 1991 when I was almost 15.
