Talking to my students and hearing their perspectives on the law makes me look at my thoughts and beliefs in a different way, and I think it helps keep me open-minded and makes me, for that reason, a better person.

Career Highlights:

Had my own law practice focusing on domestic-relations law, and during this time also worked as an assistant attorney in Campbell County prosecuting misdemeanors and juvenile cases
Taught a comparative-law course in London through the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) at Northern Kentucky University five times since 2005
Received the Dean’s Citation for Outstanding Teaching in 2005, the Dean's Citation for Organizational Citizenship in 2006, Faculty of Distinction from Student Support Services in 2006 and 2007, and the Outstanding Business Law/Finance Faculty Award from the Finance and Accounting Student Organization (FASA) in 2011
Am an arbitrator, mediator and founding board member of the ADR Center at Northern Kentucky University
Became a Full Professor in 2016
Have received the Continuing Legal Education Award from the Kentucky Bar Association four times
With Professor Catherine Neal, received the MBAA International Distinguished Paper Award for the Midwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business for the paper "Using Films to Teach Business Ethics Students"
With Professors Linda Marquis and Catherine Neal, was published in the top ethics journal in my field, “Journal of Business Ethics,” with the paper "Business Ethics Perspectives: Faculty Plagiarism and Fraud"

Why did you start teaching?
I began teaching as an adjunct in 1992 and have always enjoyed teaching. I love that I learn as much from my students as they (hopefully!) learn from me. Talking to my students and hearing their perspectives on the law makes me look at my thoughts and beliefs in a different way, and I think it helps keep me open-minded and makes me, for that reason, a better person. For my students, I hope I help them learn to think critically about the law and understand what they believe and why they hold those beliefs.
What advice would you give to those considering this online MBA program?
Ask the instructor for advice and help whenever needed and have a good self-study program in place before beginning any online courses. Be prepared to work hard and know that you will have to be self-motivated to get the work done.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know.
I think anyone taking my classes discovers this pretty quickly, but I love to read and love movies and, for the past few years, I have become addicted to many different television shows! Some of my favorites include "The Walking Dead," "American Horror Story," and "Game of Thrones." Students also find this out, too, but I used to be a film critic. I loved it at first, but seeing too many bad films makes you quit loving the job after a while!
